Elon Musk: Even as the scientific world continues to be fascinated by aliens, eagerly searching for signs of extraterrestrial life, billionaire technocrat Elon Musk has some conflicting views on the existence of extraterrestrials. At the Milken Institute’s 2024 Global Conference held in Los Angeles on May 7, Musk made some surprising claims.
At the conference, the Tesla boss was part of a panel on “How to Save the Human Race and Other Light Topics.” During the interview, host Michael Milken asked Musk how he felt about the opening sequence of “Star Trek.” whose starship mission is to search for new life forms. Musk responded by saying, “Yeah, that’s an idea.”
The head of SpaceX further stated that if probes are sent into space, we may find the remains of long-dead alien civilizations. The 52-year-old said he is often asked if he believes in aliens. He said he did not believe aliens had visited Earth.
Musk said he has seen no conclusive evidence of aliens or any craft operated by extraterrestrial intelligence. “And SpaceX with the Starlink constellation has roughly 6,000 satellites, and we’ve never once had to maneuver around a UFO. […] Never. So I’m like, well, I don’t see any evidence of aliens.”

Musk on AI
Musk also shared his views on the rapid rise of AI. “Eventually, the percentage of biological intelligence will be less than 1%,” Musk said during the interview.
When asked what the role of the people would be, he replied that he did not know. He further said that artificial intelligence should be forced to seek the truth and should not be trained to lie. Musk explained his stance by quoting Stanley Kubrick’s sci-fi film ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’.
The reason the AI killed the astronauts in 2001 Space Odyssey was because it was forced to lie. The AI was told to take them away but did not let them know the monolith’s secret. Solution? Take them to the dead monolith,” Musk said.
Musk said that an artificial intelligence that seeks the truth and is maximally curious would support human civilization to see where it goes.
